API's Scientific Team Discovers Process To Fundamentally Change The Design And Selection Of Drugs

Researchers at Accelerated Pharmaceuticals Inc. (API) have recently discovered compelling evidence that nuclear receptors and other nuclear proteins function by delivering drugs to specific gene sequences with remarkable precision and accuracy. This patented, patent pending and proprietary technology provides a method to speed drug discovery and create unique, safe and effective drugs that encompass greater than 10% of the current global market of $400 billion. This technology can also predict inherent and subtle toxicities of drugs that are not detectable by other methods.

Precise alignment of estrogen (space filling image) in DNA (blue) and receptor (yellow). The alignment of drugs in gene sequences and nuclear receptors was recently discovered at API to be a common phenomenon resulting in a powerful patent pending technology for drug discovery (See details under Breaking News and Patents & Publications)

The implications of the patent pending discoveries include:
  • New Drugs For Previously Untreatable Diseases
  • New Methods To Detect Side Effects And Toxicities Of Drugs
  • Novel Structure/Activity Relationships Not Possible With Other Methods
  • Novel Screening Methods To Find Drug Candidates
  • Methods To Detect And Correct Genetic Abnormalities
Targets for drugs developed with this technology include diabetes, osteoporosis, prostate cancer, breast cancer, fertility, sexual dysfunction, cardiovascular disease, arthritis, skin cancer, thyroid disease, hormone replacement, stroke, neuroprotection and obesity.

Additional information on these are related discoveries will be posted under Breaking News and Patents & Publications . For information on business or investment opportunities, call 412-298-4200.

molecule_and_DNA Background Information

Accelerated Pharmaceuticals Inc. (API) is a drug discovery company focused on speeding the design and development of novel, safe, and effective pharmaceuticals through the use of proprietary and patented gene-based technologies.

API' s technology specifically addresses the crisis in the pharmaceutical industry resulting from the relative paucity of New Chemical Entities (NCEs) in pharmaceutical pipelines by developing rapid and cost effective computational methods to identify such new drug candidates. The technology concomitantly excludes from consideration candidate molecules unlikely to possess activity prior to synthesis and biological testing thereby saving valuable time and resources.
API has patented and proprietary technology including
  • Three dimensional Search Engines for in silico drug design and redesign (Lead Optimization)
  • Proprietary three dimensional databases of stereochemically accurate molecular structures
  • Biologically active drug candidates (NCEs), e.g. estrogens for hormone replacement therapy and antiestrogens for the treatment of breast cancer
  • An extensive library of novel chemical structures for a wide range of drug targets and diseases.
